About your chess coach
m Ritvik Nellutla, a dedicated chess tutor who has been playing and studying the game for many years. I’ve taught multiple students one-on-one, including younger kids and complete beginners, and I focus on helping them build confidence from the very first lesson. My approach is patient, clear, and structured. I break concepts down in a simple way so students understand not only what to play, but why it works. I teach piece movement, basic tactics, opening principles, board vision, and strategic thinking. I also guide students through puzzles, game reviews, and consistent practice routines. My goal is to create a supportive and fun environment where every student can improve step by step and enjoy the process of learning chess, while building skills that translate into focus, patience, and problem-solving outside the game as well.
Ritvik graduated from United States Chess Federation (USCF)

Chess classes overview
My teaching approach is very simple, clear, and beginner-friendly. I focus on breaking chess concepts down step-by-step so students understand exactly why a move works, not just what to play. I use tools like Lichess and Google Meet to demonstrate piece movement, tactics, opening principles, board vision, and game review in a visual and interactive way. During lessons, I ask guiding questions, show examples, and encourage students to think out loud so I can understand their thought process. I adjust my pace based on the student’s level and make sure every topic feels comfortable before moving on. I also give small practice tasks, puzzle recommendations, and simple homework when helpful. My goal is to create a supportive learning environment that builds confidence, improves critical thinking, and helps students steadily grow at their own pace.
