Timothy - Know your guitar teacher
Guitar has been a passion of mine for most of my life. I've tutored students before as a test-prep and English tutor so I wanted to take my teaching skills to guitar and show others how to learn this awesome instrument. I've been playing for about 18 years and I started bass about 5 years ago, so I have a pretty decent understanding of both instruments. I've played live performances before with my brother and his bandmates around the Chicagoland area, and I've been teaching myself more about music theory since there's always something in music to learn. One of my specialties is playing blues, but there are a few other styles I can teach as well like classical and jazz. It is a privilege to get to help others play guitar, whether it's to pick up a hobby or if you're looking to improve your skills. Either way, I'm looking forward to teaching others something that has been a huge part of my life for years.

Guitar lessons quick guide
In order to teach, it's important for me to understand what it is a student is looking to learn. For example, if a beginner was looking to play guitar, I'd ask what kind of music they enjoy listening to. When I first started playing, my teacher would print out sheet music for songs I wanted to learn how to play from bands like AC/DC and Led Zeppelin. Because I was interested in these songs I wanted to spend more time practicing them. Personally, I think this is a better approach than trying to learn pieces from an instructional book. It helped me to learn by ear more easily, and I could learn multiple techniques from a single song faster than going through multiple video lessons. Since I know both guitar and bass, my methods for teaching them are similar. Of course the techniques are a bit different when playing but having the same notes setup on the fret board makes it easy to teach both to anyone looking to learn.
