Connor - Know your guitar teacher
My name is Connor Sneed, I am 22 years old, from Wilmington, NC. I have played guitar for 14 years, and have around a year of teaching experience. I offer individually tailored lessons in acoustic and electric guitar that are designed to help you achieve your goals, and focus on learning what you want to know. My specialties include scales & modes, improvisation, music theory, chord progressions, strumming patterns and more! I cater to adults as well as children from beginner to past the intermediate level. Whether youre just playing for fun, refining skills, or preparing to perform, I am more than happy create with you! I play a large selection of genres, including classic rock, blues, jazz, indie and folk, I approach music as a whole. I am currently lead guitar in a local blues band, guitar in a touring indie/folk band, and a solo performer. I look forward to our musical journey together!

My teaching approach focuses on progressive and creative instruction. I prefer to start with the basics and solidify the understanding of what my students already know, and build up to what it is that they want to know and what they aim to achieve. My lessons have an emphasis on empathy to connect with my students, to help them feel happy and comfortable, and really encourage them to refine their skills. I leverage a wide variety of visual materials, online resources, apps, and interactive activities/excercises to enhance a modern learning experience. By following a structured but flexible curriculum that is focused on my students goals, I ensure comprehensive skill development while keeping students engaged with the music that they love. The strength of my methodology lies in solidifying a strong foundation, while encouraging and nurturing individual creativity and musical expression. My goal is to set every single one of students up for musical success in the ways that matter most to them.

The student and tutor reviewed and learned new guitar chords, practiced chord transitions with a metronome, and were introduced to power chords, bar chords, and an open position scale. The tutor planned to send the student practice materials, including a backing track, and homework focusing on finger independence and chord transitions.

The Student and Tutor worked on the ukulele, specifically focusing on strumming patterns and chord changes for the song "Hallelujah". The session involved practicing the intro, verses, and chorus, with an emphasis on a new strumming pattern and the E7 chord. The Tutor will send the Student a marked-up version of the music sheet with notes to help with strumming counts.
