Three years of teaching has thrown just about every type of student my way. I've worked with kids barely big enough to hold a full-size guitar, retirees picking the instrument back up after forty years, and everyone in between. I've taught the nervous beginner who could barely look me in the eye, and the overconfident teenager who thought they already knew everything (they didn't yet). I've helped students with learning differences find methods that actually stick, and coached working parents through the challenge of squeezing practice into a packed schedule. Some of my favorite moments have been the quiet breakthroughs. The student who finally nailed that chord change they'd been fighting for weeks. The bass player who wrote their first original line. The adult student who walked in discouraged and walked out remembering why they fell in love with music in the first place. It hasnt always been a walk in the park. There have been some students who learned very slow and couldn’t catch up with other students. But I love working with them and figuring out what we needed to get done. Teaching has taught me as much as playing has. Everyone learns differently. Everyone moves at their own pace. My job is to meet you there and help you take the next step.
